Terms and Conditions (Supplementary)

These are additional terms and conditions that apply to works primarily of a domestic nature and usually where the works are subject to a quotation. These terms and conditions are printed upon the quotations we issue, however we felt we should include them here as well so that there can be no ambiguity.

Chasing where required will be made good with undercoat plaster and left ready for the application of finishing materials and final decoration by others.

Where the lifting of fitted carpets is necessary our engineers will replace them to the best of their ability, however in some cases where the carpet was originally stretched you may need to employ the services of a carpet fitter to re stretch the carpet.

We will require you to move possessions from the area of work such that we have free unrestricted access in order to carry out the work.

All our quotations assume that the existing electrical installation is suitable for the proposed alteration and adaption.

Where the incorporation of a residual current device (RCD) is required to protect an existing circuit, our experience demonstrates that on occasions there are inherent faults which can cause the RCD to trip out, should this be the case then additional fault finding costs may be incurred.

The 17th edition of BS7671 now requires us to protect lighting circuits and certain other circuits with 30mA RCD’s where any part of the cables are installed flush in walls. In order to remain competitive on price we use a dual RCD split load consumer unit and split the circuits in the property across the two RCD’s so as to minimize the inconvenience caused in the event of nuisance tripping. There is however the risk for example, of a lamp blowing, in turn causing the RCD to trip resulting in loss of power to a circuit which feeds  a freezer or computer with the obvious risk of loss of contents. We would therefore strongly recommend that you consider the additional expense of having individual RCBO’s (combined RCD and MCB devices) to protect each individual circuit as this would greatly lessen the risk.
